Over the years it has amazed me how many of the
born again body of Christ in their endeavor to live the Christian life; have been for ever on the milk of God's word and
have never grown up to understand that; anything not done through the love God that he has for us; is useless and unproductive
as to walking in the kingdom of God; which in turn gives us great freedom of expression and thankfulness. This was always
God intensions and why he sent His son Christ Jesus to the cross for our sinful nature and the curse that we were born with
was broken off our soul.
God's intent is to mature his children to become
a mighty army working in harmony to do the works of Jesus in their own arenas of life with His anointing which lives in us.
This anointing constantly abides with us forever. This sin principle that we will be talking about is a spiritual sickness
and it's staying alive in God's children because of the way they are interpreting scripture and not co-operating with
the Holy Ghost's who is the one who teaches us God's ways. This sin principle can only be driven out by God's
holding power of love and by us having a continual washing of the water of the word of God in our mind and heart. However,
it must be by the reasoning of the Holy Ghost who lives in us and not by our own efforts and fleshly thinking.
Meditating on the word of God day and night; stops us from being an ignorant Christian as far as
discerning the love God has for us and it stops this sin principle from controlling our thought life. There can not be a more
devastating thing that can happen to a child of God when this is going on because; it robs them of functioning in the inheritance
they received from God the day they met Christ. All of God's characteristics and the very life of God are housed in our
being. However, unless the Holy Ghost is giving us a vision of who we are in Christ as His children and what God has in store
for those who diligently seek him; we will not be able to live in the very heights of Jesus; our brother's own perfection
with the passion and power we need to accomplish His will.
It is us totally focusing
on this vision by God that keeps us sound minded where; we can experience the jealous love God our Father has for us. This
vision must be deep with in our entire being and it is only the Holy Ghost that can empower us to bring it to pass. Over the
years of working out my salvation; I have many times asked God what I have to do, only to have Him remind me "do nothing
but, let me love on you. I don't need your help."
In Gal. 2:20 Paul says what happened to him and us
the day we became born again. "I have been crucified with Christ; in Him I have shared His crucifixion; it is no longer
I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in by adherence to and
reliance on and complete trust in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Therefore, I do not treat God's
gracious gift as something of minor importance and defeat its very purpose; I do not set aside and invalidate and frustrate
and nullify the grace the unmerited favor of God.
For if our justification or
righteousness, (acquittal from guilt) comes through observing the ritual of obeying Laws, then Christ the Messiah death services
no purpose and is in vain and non essential."
This sin principle is a ravaging
sickness and deterrent stopping us from knowing that; or perfection is only in Christ Jesus Image and it must be totally recognized
by us and how it is trying to\stop us from becoming whole in spirit, soul and body. If the body of Christ is going to grow
to their full potential, they must have a passionate focus and serious concern for their own maturity and the maturity of
others.
With out this total focus; the show goes on as usual.
In John 3:10 John the Apostles tells us that, "as our soul prospers; so shall we prosper in
all areas." Our souls represent our mind, will and emotions. This is the physical make up of our identity and the nature
we were born with when we came out of our mother's womb. Man was born with a curse which is a (malevolent appeal from
a supernatural being to do harm and rob God's children in all areas of their lives.)
This
spirit does this by, keeping us in some way guilt ridden and unacceptable and it stops our prayers from being answered because;
we are constantly asking amiss and not truly believing that God will meet our needs and wants therefore; we ask not according
to God's plan for our life. This curse makes a person come into the world with a attitude of I will not obey any authority
and it is only as they become born again from above that; they even have the power and ability in God to be set free from
the sin principal that they were born with. We must understand how to stay in God's holding power of love and this foundation
must be in place in the believer if; they are going to allow the Holy Ghost the freedom to show them how to feel at home and
operate in the kingdom of God.
Paul the Apostle talks about this sin principle
in the book of Roman chapter seven when he tells us how he was in bondage to it. He defines his feelings in Roman 7:5-25 when
he says. "When we were living in the flesh (mere physical lives); our sinful passions were awakened and aroused up by
us trying to obey God's laws (us trying to obey God's laws in our own strength.) This is what motivates sin and we
were constantly operating in our natural powers (in our bodily organs, in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh),
so that we bore fruit for death.
We are been discharged from the Law and have
ended all intercourse with it, because we have died to what once restrained and held us captive. So we no longer serve under
obedience to the old code of written regulations, but under obedience to the promptings of the Spirit in newness of life.
Now that we have stated this; what conclusion do we come to? Is the Law identical
with sin? Certainly not! Nevertheless, if it had not been for the Law, I should not have recognized sin or have known its
meaning. [For instance] I would not have known about covetousness [would have had no consciousness of sin or sense of guilt]
if the Law that repeatedly said, you shall not covet and have an evil desire for one thing and another. But sin, finding opportunity
in the commandment to express itself, got a hold on me and aroused and stimulated all kinds of forbidden desires lust, covetousness.
For without the Law sin is dead [the sense of it is inactive and a lifeless thing].
Once I was alive, but quite apart from and unconscious of the Law. But when the commandment came, sin lived again and I died
(was sentenced by the Law to death). And the very legal ordinance which was designed and intended to bring life actually proved
to mean to me death.
For sin, seizing the opportunity and getting a hold on me
[by taking its incentive] from the commandment, beguiled and entrapped and cheated me, and using it [as a weapon], killed
me. The Law therefore is holy and [each] commandment is holy and just and good. Did that which is good then prove fatal [bringing
death] to me? Certainly not! It was the sin principle working death in me by using this good thing as a weapon, in order that
through the commandment sin might be shown up clearly to be sin that the extreme malignity and immeasurable sinfulness of
sin might plainly appear. We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am a creature of the flesh [carnal, unspiritual], having
been sold into slavery under the control of sin principle.
For I do not understand
my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe
[which my moral instinct condemns]. Now if I do [habitually] what is contrary to my desire, [that means that] I acknowledge
and agree that the Law is good (morally excellent) and that I take sides with it. However, it is no longer I who do the deed,
but the sin principle which is at home in me and has possession of me.
For I
know that nothing good lives within me, that is in my flesh. I have a will to do right, but no power to perform it. For I
fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am ever doing.
Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it [it is not myself that acts],
but the sin principle which dwells within me [fixed and operating in my soul]. So I find it to be a law (rule of action of
my being) that when I want to do what is right and good, evil is ever present with me and I am subject to its insistent demands.
For I endorse and delight in the Law of God in my inmost self with my new nature. But I discern in my bodily members [in the
sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the law of my mind (my reason)
and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh].
I am an unhappy and pitiable and wretched man. Who will release and deliver me
from these oppressive thoughts causing my depression and despair? Thank God He will through Jesus Christ the Anointed One
our Lord! So then I with my mind and heart, serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin."
We can see
here that there is a warfare going on between what Paul defines his desire in his heart verses a conflict with his flesh or
undisciplined self. Can you be honest with your feelings and admit that you are being tempted and might have a time or two
been feeling as he did here? What we have here is a young born again believer endeavoring in his passion to obey the Holy
Ghost's promptings. However, he was so focused on his failures and inadequacies with a lack of power to obey God's
laws, and he had a loathing for himself.
The word wretched in the Greek means,
caring a weight around in our mind with a desire to be set free from a life style of guilt and lack of fulfillment in some
shape or form. (I am convinced from the many encounters that I have had with other born again believers that; the majority
of God's kids are in bondage to this sin principle)
Paul was seeking a understanding
from God to give him a revelation of how God intended to create a scenario that would lead Him to walk in obedience because;
only Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He explains this by telling us that God gave us the Ten Commandments which
made us become aware when we were breaking them. Before the law was given; we had no awareness of breaking laws. In our thinking
when we feel we have broken law we feel that we have some type of punishment coming to us and we run for cover. That‘s
what we call (Living in denial.)
Adam and Eve when they for the first time realized
that they had violated God's command to not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; became enslaved to the
sin principle. The curse we were born with was not by Adam and Eve's disobedience from eating from this tree but, by what
happened to their nature that captured them in their mind of self judgment which put them in bondage to the curse by eating
from the tree and making them aware that they had broken one of God's commands.
The
Tree of Life which was also in the Garden was God Himself and this was all God wanted them to eat from and when they did;
they had a whirl wind relationship by God weaving His Spirit in and out of them at His will. Adam and Eve after becoming contaminated
focused on their shame and nakedness, went into denial by putting fig leaf aprons on themselves rather then living with a
expectation of God showing up for fellowship and allowing God to cloth them with the Righteous Spirit of Himself.
They became self conscience and self righteous rather then God conscience.
Scripture tells us that when we lift up the Lord up, He will draw all of mankind to Himself. The initial lifting
up experience was when we became conscious of the fact that Jesus was lifted up on the cross for our sin nature and when we
accepted Him into our life; this curse was lifted from our soul because scripture tells us that; anyone who is nailed to a
tree and dies for mankind; is cursed and the curse dies with Him. As Jesus died to release us from the curse; we also died
and have been raised to a new life.
Paul went through a process of sorting out
his feelings with the Holy Ghost giving him revelation of his bondage and once he recognized how the sin principle was at
work keeping him locked up; he surrendered and let the Holy Ghost empower him to live the Christian life. Let's again
quote what he said as God was trying to deliver Him from the sin principle that had him imprisoned in his own mind and emotions.
Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer (I) doing it [it is not myself that acts],
but the sin [principle] which dwells within me [fixed and operating in my soul]. So I find it to be a law (rule of action
of my being) that when I want to do what is right and good, evil is ever present with me and I am subject to its insistent
demands. For I endorse and delight in the Law of God in my inmost self [with my new nature]. But I discern in my bodily members
[in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the law of my mind (my
reason) and making me a (prisoner) to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills
of the flesh].
This curse is demonic in nature and diseases our very being which
causes us to not prosper and be in health, spirit soul and body. It has become obvious to me after the many trials and hours
of meditating on the word day and night that; it took God's patience and loving kindness to persuade me as he persuaded
Paul that I wasn't the one wanting to break God's laws, but that there was a evil entity working inside me that I
could not recognize; which had control of my will and I had no power to break free and follow the Holy Ghost's leading.
Once Paul recognized his condition and confessed it; God then gave him the revelation that he states at the end of these verse's
when he says, o unhappy and pitiable and wretched man that I am! Who will release and deliver me from [the shackles of] this
body of death? Thank God He will through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One) our Lord!
Once
we are persuaded by God that we do not want to break God's laws on purpose and are to weaked willed to keep them and recognize
that we are a cripple and a bruised child of God and that we are not being condemned by Him, we will not hide from the Holy
Ghost in denial but; we will run to the Lord for deliverance and strength because; we truly know that He loves us unconditionally.
I have come to the conclusion through countless battles in my mind meditating on the word of God day and night and the experiences
that I have had with people and the Holy Ghost over these past forty some years that, the majority of the born again church
of today even though they are God's children and have a love for Him; are living under the curse because the good news
of the gospel and the Lord being lifted up is not taking place in the different assemblies.
As
long as we have pulpits across the world not telling God kids what the difference is between being a sinner or a saint, the
body of Christ will stay palsied and inept in their ability to walk with great freedom in the kingdom of God and in to the
very throne room of our Father with expectations of hugs and kisses and total accepts. No where in the New Testament does
Paul or Peter address the different churches as sinners. He addresses them as saints who are in one place or another in the
process of being perfected by the Holy Ghost. It was a disappointment to me many years ago when God made me realize that I
was my worst enemy but, He quickly showed me His favor and compassion when He began to love on me because; I let Him.
We must as born again children of God allow the Holy Ghost to continually clean our conscience from
dead works of unrighteous thoughts which manifest as self righteous acts because; if we don't, it will keep the sin principle
alive and flourishing with in us. This is what happens when we do not believe in the once saved permanency of the miracle
that took place the day we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior.
In Heb 9:25-28
Paul the Apostle states this. "Jesus didn't enter the heavenly sanctuary to offer Himself regularly again and again,
as the high priest enters the Holy of Holies every year with out offering his own blood. For then would He would have often
had to suffer over and over again since the foundation of the world. However, Jesus has once and for all at the consummation
and close of the ages made a physical appearance to put away and abolish sin by His sacrifice of Himself. And just as it is
appointed for [all] men once to die, and after that the certain judgment, Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to
take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a second time, not to carry any
burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring to full salvation those who are eagerly, constantly, and patiently waiting
for and expecting Him."
In the Old Testament; the Levitical priests would
enter the temple once every year with a mission to sacrifice unblemished animals as a sin offering for the sins of the people.
This had become a continual ritual year after year. Paul now states that Jesus became a permanent offering for our sins and
we need no more offerings because He offered His own blood for the cleansing of the sinful cursed nature we were born with
once and for all and there is no more offering necessary.
Jesus sacrifice on the
cross must be in place in the deep consciencness of the believer if; they are going to be a winner over the sin principle
that comes to rob them of their righteous state in Jesus the Christ. We became righteous once and for all times when we accepted
Jesus sacrifice at the cross by Him spilling His own blood once and for all to deliver mankind.
To become righteous one must confess their allegiance to Jesus one act and allow the Holy Ghost to come into
their being and take up residence with in them and once this miracle takes place (and it must be a supernatural event) not
a head knowledge decision in our own thinking. Paul said that, Jesus is not coming back to judge sin because that was what
He already dealt with at the cross, and since we are now righteous in His sight, He looks at us the same way He looks at Jesus
our older brother that being; we are blameless, free from evil and set apart as His own children whom He deeply loves and
He wants to share all that He owns generously and continually in to our lives.
There
is nothing more that we can do become more righteous or neither can we lose our righteous position by bad behavior.
Unless you are aware of this principle; the sin principle is alive and very active in your life.
There are many in the body of Christ in bondage to drugs, homosexuality, and
many other addictions to the flesh that I am grieved to say, do not want to admit to their addictions in wanting to change
their life style as Paul did in recognizing what a wretched man he was with the deep emotional pain he was experiencing. It
is a great concern for me when I meet people like this because; it reminds me of the Old Testament story of the three and
one half million Israelites who wandered in the wilderness for forty years and never entered the promised land of what blessing
God wanted to bestow on them. Only Caleb and Joshua of the original group entered in. All of their generation died in the
desert and even though they did, God still fed and clothed them in spite of their bondage and lack of faith in Him
