Paul tells us that if we are to keep God's commandment it must be with out spot and
unrebukeable. The Greek word for spot is aspilos: and it means; unblemished with out being polluted or defective and anything
that is a disgrace or contrary to God's unearned favor meaning His grace. The Greek word for unrebukeable is anepileptos:
which means; not guilty of committing a crime and under arrest and found totally blameless. Let‘s
go to 1John 3:2-11 and get a little more in depth so we can define how this commandment works in our life if it is our number
one priority to love as God loves and be walking in obedience to His commands. Again it is as we walk in our righteous new
man we became when we had our born again experience that made us by God's grace people with out spot and wrinkle in God's
sight and we must truly believe what God says about what He thinks of us. There is only one commandment that a Christian should
be focused on and that is "we are to love our neighbor as we love our self" PERIOD.
This being true; a person that does not understand His righteous and pure status in God's sight; will
have a very difficult time loving him self and in turn; forgive and love his neighbor. Now let's give some more validity
to prove this theory by what John said and I will comment between verses.
"Beloved,
now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall
be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is already
pure." It is in us having this hope and being constantly encouraged daily by the Holy Ghost of our blameless and purified
state in Christ that makes us become surer with in our self of our pure state.
John
says; we must know that when Jesus is reveled that; we will be like Him and by truly knowing that; we can walk in our new
created spiritual being because; it made us pure in God's sight by us having our born again experience. This was all done
by God's power and freely given to us. We need to know the difference between having faults which are weakness in our
life that are normal areas where we need to mature in verses what sin represents. Knowing the difference will cause you to
understand this next verse we will be talking about.
The majority of the preaching
and teaching going on in the Christian community is that; a born again believer can sin against God after having their born
again experience and in some circles they go as far as saying; if they continue to live in this condition and die; they will
go to hell. This is the most demonic and mind mesmerizing doctrine ever devised by mankind that keeps a person living with
a spirit of shame and they go through a process of asking for forgiveness but stay in a carnal thinking mode of reasoning
that shows up in their behavior like this endless computer loop that I mentioned earlier. This sick concept is the main ploy
of Satan that he uses to keep people living under a condemning spirit that makes a person who is trying to serve the Lord
with feelings of low self esteem and seriously inadequate with fits of anger at times over situations where they feel helpless
and abandoned by God and man.
Now any body who comes to recognize that this is the condition that they are living
in; must make a decision and a dedication of all their faculties to come clean with their inadequacies and cast their total
personality and all care on Christ by acknowledging their need for Him and totally abandon them self on His power of forgiveness
and unearned favor. This is what casts off the fears and burdens that attacks our mind daily and causes us at times to not
rest in arms of God's grace.
John goes on to say; "Whoever commits sin
transgresses the law for sin is a transgression (MEANING US BREAKING A MORAL CODE) of the law. And you know that Jesus became
a man to die for our cursed nature that we were born with TO TAKE AWAY OUR SIN AND IN HIM THERE IS NO SIN. Whoever ABIDES
in Him DOES NOT SIN. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him."
I
believe from what I have heard from pulpits in most places that; a Christian is judged by God in accordance to him obeying
the Ten Commandments. When a person uses that standard as a role model and substitutes it for their righteousness in Christ
Jesus; all that does is puff up their carnal nature and the power of God's forgiving grace has no way to have its way
in having your steps being ordered by God. When a born again believer get's a continual dose under this type of condemning
preaching and told they can still sin after they have come into God's family and depending on how brain washed they are;
it could become an almost impossible task to get them delivered. I have known God's kids who have gone on to meet the
Lord with this shame based nature that they have lived in all of their life and to me; this is tragic.
Let's go back and revue some scripture before we go on with John's comments and see what
Paul had to say in Romans 6:11-18 about sin verses our righteousness in Christ Jesus. I will interject my thoughts as I have
been as we go through these scriptures. "Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized
into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in our newness of life.
The
Greek word for baptism is baptizo: which means; to make whelmed and to be stained with a dye. In some denominations we have
people believing that a child when first born is baptized as an out ward sign of them being dedicated to the Lord and coming
into God's family. We also have some believing that unless a person has a born again experience and is water baptized
and totally submerged under water if they die with out being watered baptized they will go to hell. Again this is man in utter
nonsense adding to the word of God.
However; in Matthew 3:11 John said; "I
indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that comes after me is mightier then I, whose shoes I am not worthy
to carry and he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." John know that his time of ministering by putting
people under water was coming to an end because; Christ Jesus the Son of God showed up to involve Him self into the lives
of man kind.
Prior to Jesus coming on the scene; John would water baptize the
people because this was at one time the way the people gave testimony of them wanting to repent of their sins in their life.
It was a man made religious way of reaching up to God. Those type obligated works ended when Jesus showed up however; there
are many that have become enslaved in having Old Testament thinking and still living in a religious self centered life style.
I have heard born again people as referring to the Holy Ghost as being an it; rather then a living God who is housed in our
being and we must know how to acknowledge His presence and forgiving personality and respond to His coaxing steady influences.
If you have ever truly experienced His presence; there are times when you will actually fall down under his anointed power.
Experiencing the Holy Ghost's presence shakes loose any faults man made self righteous living concepts that a Christian
can get caught up and deceived in. Only His influences and our surrendering to His persuasive ways will cause us to mature
in Christ Jesus.
This baptized dye staining that the Greek talks about can only
be explained by us having the miracle of our born again birth; we were blood transfused into God the Father's family and
became an heir of all God has as His child. We must be having experiences with true liberty and knowledge that; we have the
privilege to walk in God our Father's heavenly courts right now with no restriction being put on us by any type of unforgiving
and obligated influences from the devil or men who are ignorant of God's holding power of love. Our relationship with
God will flourish if; we compare spirit with spirit and not get deceived in leaning towards our own understanding of how to
be a God seeker by using our five senses. There is a lot more to say but; let us continue.
For
if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
knowing that; our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be
slaves of sin.
Scripture tells us that; the day will come when; our body will
rise from the grave and we will receive a new glorified body as Jesus got when He rose from the dead and went back to heaven.
We are talking about a physical manifestation here that one can see with their natural eye. However; that is not what John
was talking about here. Listen closely as this idea of the new creature we became the day we became born again has not been
rightly divided and has become a stumbling block in many circles.
Paul defines
this new nature we received when we were baptized into Jesus death and rose again by saying this in 11 Cor. 5:15-17. "Jesus
died for all, that those who live should no longer live for them selves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
So from now on; we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come and the old has gone and the new is here." There are many
people that I have talked to over the years that profess to be Christians and even attend church and try to live a good life
and that is commendable however; they have the physical knowledge of who Christ is but have not been born again and have the
Spirit of Christ through the Holy Ghost alive with in them.
There is no
such thing as spiritual newness with out the miracle of having a born again experience. That's because; we have not allowed
God to change our old nature that we cursed and born with as a slave to breaking God's commandments because; we did not
have God's righteous pure nature with His power and personality governing our life.
This
experience is an inner work by the Holy Ghost to our spirit and is kept alive and functions by a very real living experience
between God and our self. Our body will eventually take on immortality like our spirit did when we became born again from
above and be united with our new inner man. I pray that you are getting a spiritual revelation of what I am saying here as
only the Holy Ghost can teach and give you an inner witness of what I am saying.
With
out Him at the helm of your life; every thing else is meaningless. You must have a true revelation and be learning how to
function in your new man or you will stay as a slave to burdensome weighted down obligated works that can drive a person to
despair. If you have a deep awareness of what Paul said then; you will believe his next statement.
For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that; we shall also live
with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For
the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, consider
yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ask your self this question; have you truly
believed that you have died to considering your self as still being a sinner after having your born again experience? If you
are in agreement on what you have been reading; we can then go on and say this about our self.
Therefore; do not let sin be the dominating power in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from
the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not
under law but under grace.
Lust is an enticement to sensual pleasure which is
nothing more then; relating to the body or the senses as opposed to the mind of Christ that we received the day we became
a part of God's family. Scripture is very clear when it tells us "to walk in God's righteous Spirit and then
we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh." It will be impossible for a born again child of God to walk naturally with
God in the spirit if; they are ignorant of God's way of maturing as His children. This living lusting spirit constantly
tries to come against our righteous position in Christ Jesus.
I can't help
being repetitious because our cycle of healthy thinking is in us continually hearing in our inner spiritual ear; "thus
says the Lord." I said earlier that our newness in life is God's miracle working power that changes our nature that
we were born with to God's righteous nature. Only a living God could do this. Have you been born again or not and are
you identifying your self with Christ Jesus or are you trying to work at following the Ten Commandments with your own strength
and will power.
The way we can define the difference between following laws verses living by God's grace and
righteous spirit is found in Gal. 3:21-28 by Paul when he said. "God added and gave the law so mankind could know that;
he was breaking one or more of God's moral codes only until; the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was
given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. A mediator, however, implies more than one party; however; God is only one.
This does not mean that; the law is opposed to the promises of God.
Christ Jesus
is the miracle seed that had to be planted in our being so we could be changed and be delivered from a life of endless obligated
works of measuring up to be accepted by God and mankind.
For if God had given
us a law that would have imparted spiritual and eternal life, then our righteousness standing in God would have certainly
come by us obeying laws. But scripture is emphatic and states that; every human being was born locked up and being controlled
by sin, so that what was promised that is given to us by faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Do you
truly know that; you have believed?
Before the coming of this faith; we were
held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian or
school master until Christ Jesus came that we might be set free from having a weak will as we worked at trying to be obedient
in vain because; we never had the faith of Christ at work in us. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian
or school master of law practicing. Therefore; for all those who are in Christ Jesus; they are all children of God ONLY through
Christ's faith at work in them. For all of you who have been baptized into Christ have Put on Christ Himself." Do
you truly believe this and have a deep understanding of how to let go and let God become the Lord over your life?
Let's now continue when John said; "Whoever ABIDES in Him DOES NOT SIN. Whoever sins has
neither seen Him nor known Him." Let's define what abides means and let me ask the question; is there some work we
have to do to abide in Him?
The word for abides in the Greek is meno: which means
to; continue, remain and to tarry. A person who is having a tarry relationship with the Lord has an expectation that they
look forward to daily morning by morning as they are experiencing new mercies of God. This causes us to be thankful and we
welcome our meetings with God that constantly provides relief or prevents something unpleasant from happening to us as we
all have to deal with the devil's devices in his attempt to make us not understand God's merciful and complete forgiveness
when we in our ignorance; abuse our self in our growing pains as we put judgments on our self and govern our growth on still
being a slave to living by laws rather then God's grace and forgiveness as His child.
This very principle that we are talking about is the most misunderstood doctrine that is running ramped with
in the born again church. There are very few teaching the mercies of God and most are still preaching the judgments of God.
What are you addicted to; God's loving and total kindness or are you under obligated laws of service as a slave in the
guise of doing God's bidding?
Now I asked the question; what does a Christian
have to do to stay abiding in Christ. Abiding is a word defined in Webster's Dictionary as being permanent or long-lasting
and applying this word as to our relationship with God; it is us staying mindful of God's presence and loving holding
power.
Let's forever get this one thing settled if it; isn't already
settled in your heart and mind already as it should be if; you are maturing in your Christian walk. Once a person has been
spiritually miraculously baptized into Christ Jesus death and resurrection through them being born again; you can not no matter
what you do be unborn and go back and become unsaved. I know I am getting into some controversial stuff here for many of God's
kids that have been brain washed into other convictions.
However; as a born again
believer who does not understand what their righteousness represents in God's sight that happened to them the day they
were impregnated with the sperm of God when he became their Father; they will stay as slaves in their thinking to their old
nature that God sent Jesus to deliver them from.
Therefore; to enjoy our abiding
relationship with surety of conviction we must practice what Paul said in Romans 12:1-3. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers
and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your
true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then
you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
With out have a clear view of the mercies of God in us interacting with it and having a sure conviction and
deep understanding as we allow the Holy Ghost to give us at all times; a person will have no power to offer their bodies as
a living sacrifice which is true worship to God. People with a true view of God's mercy are constantly experiencing God's
compassion which is His deep sympathy for the suffering of others with the greatest power of having a desire to help at all
times. Let's remember God is love not a person who works at loving.
The word
view represents an opinion or judgment on something or a particular way of interpreting or thinking about something. This
being true; our whole foundation of life and our eventual outcome of our maturity in Christ totally dependent on our understanding
of God's view towards His children verses us staying ignorant in making as I have said many times; God into our image
of understanding. John went on to say; "Whoever sins has either seen Him or known Him."
Since I hope we have come into agreement that a person who has come to abiding in Christ which is a miraculous
act that can not be reversed; he can not sin against God. Therefore; from God's view; a born again believer sees God by
having an inner witness by their born again experience of His presence with power. Let's logically continue.
Now when a born again believer does not walk in their righteous stature in Christ due to the ignorance with in them of what
they are entitled to by being God's child; what they can due is sin against them self. Remember I said earlier there is
a difference between a Christian having faults in their maturing process verse still having the sin nature they were born
with and sinning against God by still being a slave to keeping laws.
The word
for sin from the Greek Concordance is hamartano: It means a born again child of God missing the mark, not share in a prize,
erring and not participate in their total allotment given to them by God the day you became his child. When we don't rest
in a spirit of forgiving repentance, we live under a spirit that causes us to miss something that God wants to give us described
as our total allotment or prize because, we are missing the bench mark of His purposes. This gift of our righteousness in
him gave us a halo around our head that inspires feelings of wonder and joy and it gives us a quality of being honorable,
worthy, having a high rank and being able to worship. (This is a mouth full. Think on it for a while.)
James tells us how a child of God can sin against them self and when they do this; they commit spiritual
suicide by staying out side God's loving influences. James says this in James 5:17 "To him that knows good and does
it not it is sin to him." Let's again remind our self that; sin gets its power when a person reasons in right and
wrong concepts of breaking laws.
Scripture also tells us that; "as a man
thinks in his own heart; that is what he will become." This only confirms again what we have been saying; when a person
uses their own value system in comparing their behavior trying to follow laws they sin against them self because; they are
living by a man made concept of love verse God's pure holding power of Him judging man with mercy and forgiving grace.
Therefore; a person can be born again and no longer have the sinner nature they
were born with and sin against them self even in their endeavor in being a God seeker and still lose out in receiving God's
best for them because; they do not have the right understanding of their righteous state in Christ Jesus. They still go to
heaven however; they never learn to walk and enjoy their inheritance from God their Father here on the earth and truly rest
in his care. What can be more tragic then this? This causes them to have a basement mentality rather then living in the palace
with God as his child. Cont. in p. 5
