In this article we will explore the possibility if we can be interpreting God’s word through the spirit of false doctrines and not rightly interpreting it through the Holy Spirits leadings. The main text we will be using is found in 11Tim. 3:13-17 where Paul tells Timothy that in the last days meaning now, “ there will be evil men and seducers who will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as far as you’re concerned, continue in the things that you have learned and stay assured of the one that you have learned it from. Since a child you have known the scriptures which have made you wise unto salvation through your faith in Jesus Christ. Now all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work.”

Let’s take an intense look at these statements by Paul and allow the Holy Spirit to search our heart and see if we are being obedient and adhering to these principles. Before we begin, lets focus on the idea that we are talking about a invisible enemy called the Devil who is constantly at work subtly influencing our minds so we can miss God’s intended plans for our lives. This can only take place if, we are not meditating on His word day and night and rightly interpreting it.

We start out with, are we being seduced by evil men and being deceived. The word seduced in the Greek is goes: meaning, a wizard and muttering spells. Wizard means a sorcerer, who is a super natural agent. To mutter means to speak in a low indistinct tone with a grumbling and complaining attitude. If you are familiar with scripture, the first seduction and muttering complaining tone spoken was in the Garden of Eden when Satan contradicted God’s words and told Eve, “she could eat from the Tree of Good and Evil and she would not die.”

In the Hebrew interpretation of this it states that, she had a séance with Satan. The word Satan means, he is an enchanter and when we eat from the Tree of Good and Evil and we still can today, this causes us to not rightly interpret God’s word. This is serious business and nothing for us to play around with and take for granted in our daily decision making.

In1Tim 4:1 Paul tells Timothy that, “The Holy Spirit very distinctly with no reservations say’s, in the latter times meaning now, some will depart from the faith, by giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of Devils.” We are not talking about back sliding and going to hell here.

When we as born again believers get deceived and seduced, we fall back from receiving God’s grace and mercy and the power we need to walk in holiness before Him. In turn, we live in disgrace and shame like the un-saved people. When we say shame we are talking about living in guilt and unworthiness. What we do is violate God’s given instructions of how to think healthy thoughts of how He loves and cares for us. This is the real reason why so many Christians are stumbling and falling in their endeavor to live the Christian life.

The word evil in the Greek is Poneros: meaning, begging alms, a falling away, to scare or frighten and to perish and be corrupt. If I was to even do a more in-depth research of this word evil from scripture, I would come up with more negative aspects of this word. Evil represents every demonic seductive characteristic by Satan, to stop the born again believer from functioning in his inheritance. This inheritance, we received the day we became born again believers when God became our Father and gave us the power to rule and reign with Him now and for eternity.

Before I go on, I want you to consider that if you are born again, you are God’s child permanently. Everything He has is yours and when you really believe this, it is then that you will really believe who you are in Christ. I know for some of you this is hard to comprehend. It’s only as we are having an on going relationship with the Holy Spirit that this comprehension will begin to grow in your thinking.

When our concepts and spiritual discernment is being clouded by un-God like interpretations, we reap all the evil outcomes I have stated in this definition of evil. For one, we spend more time begging God to supply our needs as alms people then thanking Him for what He has already given us. In the New Testament we have countless stories of people begging alms at the temple gate. Nothing has changed; we still have born again believers begging alms in their relationship with God because, they are totally ignorant of the scriptures not knowing who they are as God’s children.

The word deceived in the Greek is planeo: meaning, to go astray, wander from orthodoxy, piety and become disillusioned. When we wander from an orthodox view, we no longer adhere to a sound and correct doctrine of Christian principles. What we do is, not continue in the faith as scripture tells us to do. Let me ask you a question as I ask myself as many others have asked me. What is this faith that scripture talks about?

The word faith in the Greek is pistis: meaning, a conviction and reliance upon Christ, which grows as we go through a process taking place of having a dialog of argument and persuasion with in our minds with the teacher of all truth. The Holy Spirit is the only teacher of all truth. Scripture tells us that, [if] we have a sound relationship with Him, we will never believe a lie.

In 1Tim 6:12 Paul tells Timothy, “Fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of eternal life, because God has called you to do this. This is done by you confessing what the Holy Spirit is telling you within your own mind. ” We have to be actively doing this.

How active and careful are you to avoid error in the spiritual dimension? Are you functioning in this arena of warfare daily in passion and commitment as a God ordained child called, anointed and equipped for fulfillment? If you are born again, you have been singled out by the Devil as an enemy and threat to hinder his purposes. If we are to lay hold of eternal life, we are going to have a fight on our hands. This has to be done in the spiritual world, not in our own ideas of fleshly thinking.

Looking at this from only a secular point of view, what’s going on in the courts today is a serious and dangerous travesty. What our fore fathers meant in the constitution is being distorted day after day. This country is writing God out of everything and changing laws to suit different factions. What was still fresh and wholesome when I was a kid has become a fight for clear thinking and holy living.

I can understand non-saved people making laws with non righteous thinking because, scripture tells us that, with out the Holy Spirit living on the inside to represent His thinking on matters we are lost. We have amendments and amendments to the constitution that change as the moral standards of this country deteriorate. We desperately need Holy Spirit led people in this arena of life.

The body of Christ which should be the moral backbone and the ones to raise up the standard representing God’s views, has become divided and do not share in a common Godly agenda, with having a united front. We know Jesus saves and we need to preach the gospel to every living creature on the earth. Now that’s new revelation to the unsaved, but how about new and true revelation and teachings to the saved on what their position in Christ is and how they are to be empowered to go into the market places of life and do the works of Jesus. It is a grieving and dangerous day for the world and God’s creation when the different denominations begin to promote their own personal agendas rather then obeying Jesus when He said in John 12:32 “ if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto myself.” We are talking here about much more than, just being saved.

Do we really think about the fact that God is alive today and we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us? He just loves and has a passion to reveal His way of thinking to His children? He is the original author of the bible and the one who moved on different people, as to what to write for our healthy thinking. The declaration of independence was written by God fearing people also. These men were led by God also to write our laws for our religious freedoms of today.

I don’t think you have to be a greatly educated person to understand that, if you tell a story to one person by the time it gets to the twentieth person it’s totally distorted. That’s what human nature does; it lies and takes on the characteristic of evil. In John 8:44 Jesus said, “The Devil is a liar and the father of liars.” So all seduction starts with the truth being distorted in some form and it’s only as we stay in a living relationship with the Holy Spirit that the original message can stay fresh and real in our minds and we will not be deceived by the passage of time. The Devil is alive and constantly spreading his lies in our minds. Who are we being influenced by and making our daily decisions on? If this concept that we are talking about is foreign to you, I would say that you’re living in a lot of ignorance, denial and loss as to you functioning in your inheritance given to you by God, the day you asked Jesus to forgive your sin and you became a born again Christian.

This main text goes on to say that, it’s the scriptures that make us wise of our salvation in Jesus Christ. The word scripture in the Greek is graphe: meaning a Holy Writ and a document that describes something with orders put on paper that need to be followed. The bible was put on parchment and written by people that were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The word salvation in the Greek is soteria; meaning, to rescue, heal, preserve, protect and be made whole, but only through God or Christ our Savior. We see here that being saved is so much more than making a commitment to Christ and being delivered from an eternity in hell.

Romans 10:9-10: tells us that, “when we confessed with our mouth and believed in our heart that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead and is alive today, we will be saved. For with our heart a person by trusting in Christ’s finished work at the cross alone, is declared righteous and acceptable by God, and when he openly declares and confesses from his mouth this fact, he gets a witness in his spirit that this miracle has taken place and becomes born again.” We really need to understand that this is the first encounter and taste of the spiritual world for us.

Our spirit life is dormant until we encounter this supernatural miracle and come alive in our being to spiritual thoughts. With The Holy Spirit now living in us, we are now able to perceive with our spiritual mind subtle differences between spiritual truth of the scripture and false doctrine and lies of the enemy.

In 1Cor. 2:11-16 Paul tells the Corinthian people what happed to them the day they got saved. He says, “no one can know the thoughts of God if he does not have the Spirit of God living in him. Now when we were saved, we did not receive the spirit that is in the world but, we received the Holy Spirit who came from God. Because of this we can now comprehend and appreciate God’s divine favor which he so lavishly and freely bestowed on us. We can now interpret God’s truth from the scriptures and realize that, we can not use our own natural minds to understand it. Therefore we begin to understand that the natural man who does not have the Holy Spirit can not receive into his heart God’s revelation, favor and truth because they are foolishness, meaningless and nonsense to him.

Paul says, when we became saved, we did not receive the spirit of the world. There also is a spirit not from God that controls the agendas of this worldly order. Scripture tells us that, the devil has his doctrine of truth that continually influences our minds daily. Just like we pick up dirt on our bodies and have to take a shower everyday to get clean. Sometimes I wonder when talking to born again believers if they realize that there is a very real spirit at work in the world to deceive and blind the eyes of believers, to waste their lives on meaningless and un-God like pursuits. We are in a battle and it’s time for the body of Christ to wake up from their o hum non- committed life styles of mediocrity.

We must come to understand that, there must be a very sound and sure foundation that must be laid for us to participate with God just to begin to function and allow God to continue to protect, heal, and make us whole. These are all the things that salvation represents. Being born again is only the first step in our walk with God. Without this first step there can be no more continuing steps. Now that our spirit has come alive, it must be constantly nourished by a continual dialog with the Holy Spirit daily. Since our spirit is now alive, we can now begin to see into the spiritual world and begin to see the works of the devil to deceive and weave his seductive distortions. The body of Christ is called to be the salt and light to this fallen world. I believe that too many of self proclaimed born again Christians have no idea of spiritual warfare and what it means to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ. This is supposed to be a family thing with everybody going about in their own designated arena of life lifting up Jesus to everyone. What are we accomplishing in these Christian gatherings in church if; we are not during the rest of the week at our jobs, at the market, and doctors office etc. evangelizing or spreading the gospel to everyone as we go?

Now the rest of this article will be directed more to the born again believer alone, because it deals with how this warfare works in our minds and spirit. If you’re not sure you’re saved, the bible tells us that, those who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. I described earlier how to do this. That’s as simple as it is. Only born again believers are capable to function in being aware of spiritual activity as far as the battle of evil spirits verses the Spirit of God. I know we have physics, people talking to the dead, witches etc. These are all the devils counterfeited inventions to lead people astray. If you are a born again believer and participating in this, you will have no ability to comprehend the subtleties of religious and law spirits in operation within the born again Church’s of today. This is where you find these subtle seducing spirits, they operate in the arena of where people come to get their so called connection with God through what is supposed to be a uplifting love communicating worship of God and fellowship with one another.

In recapping, the natural man does not have the Holy Spirit living on the inside therefore; God’s revelation of truth is foolishness to him. He is easily deceived and a slave to his sinful desires because, he lives with a lying spirit, only because he doesn’t have the Holy Spirit to tell him the truth. This does not make him a scum bag and mean that, he is not loved by God. At one time we were unsaved and Jesus died for all, not knowing if anybody would accept His sacrifice on the cross. We need to walk with a humble and thankful heart always if we are saved today. If you have lost the passion and thankfulness to God for His loving favor in this area alone, you are being seduced and in trouble. I said earlier that even if we are born again, we can also be deceived because of our interpretation of scripture.

Now the next part of our main text states, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” We have already defined the meaning of the word scripture as, orders or instruction put on paper. So let’s look at this word inspiration. In the Greek the word inspiration is theopneustos: meaning, a divine breathe or wind of intelligence. The day I met Jesus some forty years ago, I had a supernatural experience of getting saved in my automobile taking my wife to the doctors office because, she was pregnant with our second son. I was telling her of how I was in a dilemma in my mind because, somebody told me if I would believe that Jesus was alive and confessed my sin to him and told someone out of my mouth that I had this conversation with Him, I would have a witness with in me that God had heard me and I would know my sins were forgiven by Him.

It was hard for me to understand this because, I am a very logical person and I didn’t see with my physical eyes any Jesus walking around. Because I was Catholic at the time I would confess my sins to the priest so he would forgive my sins and in turn I could go to mass on Sunday and receive communion. This is the Catholic doctrinal theology which is not true as far as scripture is concerned. But that’s another story, let’s go on. Well it was five thirty on Saturday and too late to go to confession, so I told her that I had asked Jesus to forgive my sins and he heard me forgave me. This is the scripture I used earlier in Roman 10:9-10 where it says, “If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth you will have a witness that you are born again.” I didn’t find out till much later that there was a scripture in the bible that described this encounter I was having with God in such detail in my automobile.

When I said this a wind entered my automobile and came into my body and literally filled my being. I had an awareness of a person who I could not see loving on me that I could not understand. The first thing I noticed over the preceding days was that, some of the sinful habits and addictions of my life fell away and I was set free from giving into these evil impulses. This was something I was never able to do in my own strength. Well this was forty years ago. For me this encounter has grown to a friendship of intimate and total acceptance that has formed the foundation, with power and meaning for my life.

To me if and when we personally meet, I will have an eternity of talking about what I have experienced with my relationship with the Lord these last forty years. Now please here me on this, we in the body of Christ have yet to experience the full impact of this divinely breathed life that the Holy Spirit has equipped us with. Oh, we have had some outpourings, a little here and a little there. But at this given moment the Lord is impressing upon me by saying that, “He has a great passion to reveal Himself to us in a way we have never imaged.”

I have had some wind ordained moments with the Holy Spirit in my life however; we are not talking here about having as our first priority of us seeking the manifestations of God. We are to seek the person of God. When we seek the person and presence of God the manifestations will automatically follow.

Most people ask me especially young people how they can recognize the Holy Spirits voice with all the other voices in the world today and there are many. I tell them “do you have a hunger for God and is it your first priority to find Him.” If they say yes, then I say “talk to Him and ask Him to reveal Himself to you and begin to read His last will and testament which are His orders and instructions for Christian living.” “How much time do you spend reading the word and meditating on it day and night?” This walking with the Holy Spirit is another dimension. You can’t touch it with your physical senses and natural man abilities.

Now let describe God’s ordained plan from scripture as to the type of inspiration relationship He wants with us. I have stated this many times in other articles on our web site because; this is the basic foundational principle that has to be taught within the body of Christ. In the book of Genesis, we have the roll model of God’s intentions for a healthy relationship with His children.

It was natural and customary for Adam and Eve to walk with God in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day. Cool of the day does not mean as it cools off towards the evening hours. In the Hebrew it means, RUWACH: a Spirit presence like a wind or breathe. The Spirit of God would weave Himself into their physical bodies. Adam lived with an overwhelming anticipation when God showed up. Their oneness and openness in the Spirit gave Adam a quick understanding of God’s thoughts and ways. He was totally naked in God’s sight and he was unashamed. You might say that, he was in a constant state of staying pure and uncontaminated as long as he understood how God looked at him. His mind was being constantly washed from demonic influences. When he ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and disobeyed God, he became ashamed and focused his thought life not on anticipating God showing up, but he became aware of his own nakedness and felt guilty.

This meaning he focused on his behavior, failings and became ashamed of himself. He decided to take fig leaves, sew them together, and make aprons for Eve and himself to cover their shame. This was his way of justifying his behavior and dealing with his disobedience. Now when we allow false interpretation of God’s word to filter into our minds and become part of the building blocks of our Christian character, we allow the Devil to put us is a state of spiritual unconsciousness over our eyes and ears and we fall back from receiving all of God’s spiritual influences. What we do is we begin to live in denial by covering our real selves with a fig leaf mentality.

If you really intend to be inspired by God, the fig leaves have to come off and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to have total access to our hearts and show us the areas of our lives where we are missing God‘s best.. There can be no secrets between God and ourselves. What happens is we allow a lying spirit of the world and even in church circles of demonic activity to take control and messemerize us into not thinking with the mind of Christ which we received the day we became born again. If you really understand the seriousness of this, you have to be a complete fool to not want to pursue the possibility that this could be true in your life.

Over my years in the Lord I picked up a lot of false doctrine. Thank God for His mercy and love in pursuing me to straighten me out. It is a painful ordeal when we allow the Devil to weave his spirit of giving us a fig leaf mentality. When this happens, the Holy Spirit has to take you back through your deceptive interpretations and peal those fig leaves off your soul to restructure and show you your stinky thinking, so he can plant true revelation into your make up. This can be very painful because, you have to deal with the wasted years in un-godlike pursuits and recognizing all you have missed from God. I am not talking about backsliding and living in deliberate sin here. You can have a real desire to serve the Lord and still be deceived, because of non righteous thinking.

Sometimes I get so thankful to God and wonder how I could have been of any benefit to Him or myself as ignorant as I was in understanding the real Christian walk in the Spirit at times over these years. It is the most fulfilling joy of life to sit and study the scriptures with the Holy Spirit and meditate with Him. {It must be with Him.} To me the word of God is like reading a story just written and the ink is still wet on the pages. This should be the norm for the born again believer. This is what divine inspiration is all about. If you who are reading this are thinking in any form that, you have arrived at some safe comfortable position in Christ and are not aware of your ignorance in comparison with God’s wisdom, you are already deceived.
