Running your life's race by faith or under a curse?
Part three
We are continuing with Jesus sixth characteristic:
6. Reverence: = (A feeling of profound respect mingled with awe and affection and having a gracious and courteous
behavior.) When there is a reverence towards someone, we pay close attention and focus our thought life towards the feelings
of that person. In Hebrews 12:24-29 We have Paul the Apostle giving us a vision, direction and the attitude of the reverence
we need to have in running our race of faith. He states, “ Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant and to the blood
of sprinkling, which speaks of mercy and gives us a better testimony and gracious message than the blood of Abel whom was
killed by his brother Cain in the Old Testament because, Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance. See then that
when God speaks to you that you do not refuse to listen. For the people who lived by the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament
before Jesus died on the cross for our sins did not have His power of His grace in them to obey Him. When they broke the Law
they paid a terrible price here on earth and did not escape the consequences of their actions. We now also will pay an awful
price if we do not heed the voice of the Holy Spirit because heaven is now in us and we have a more excellent covenant and
more to loose.
PageAt Mount Sinai where God gave the
Ten Commandments to Moses His voice shook the earth. Yet once more God’s is not only shaking the earth but also the
heavens. Now this means that God in this last dispensation of time is determined to shake every thing He created in order
to get rid of anything that does not line up with His perfect will. If we truly understand God’s resolve and motivation
in doing this let us receive and live in this type of kingdom by receiving His grace which is pleasing and acceptable to Him
and it will produce a reverence and a Godly fear of Him. For God is a consuming fire”
What we have here is a mouthful and as I am trying to put it on paper, the meaning of it for the moment,
is keeping me speechless. It is so important that we get sight of the fact that God is a jealous lover and He will not allow
one of His children to miss there appointed task and purpose that He ordained for their lives. Some of the e-mail I have been
receiving confirms to me that there is a big shaking going on in the body of Christ through different circumstances and God
is determined to set His people free from every encumbrance and weight that has so easily captured His children. This happens
because, of their ignorance of not knowing what type of resolve He has for them to know how much He loves them. What is also
amazing, we have to receive God’s grace to even have the power to reverence Him.
I don’t know about you unless you tell me but, I have to be continually reminded by the Holy Spirit of Him telling me
“Let go and let me do it for you” If we are going to boast in any thing, let us boast of the Lord. This idea of our boasting in self is another fruit in our lives of the curse.
When it says God is a consuming fire, this means, Jesus act of dying for our sins and
as we become symbiotic in relationship in dying with Him and being raised to a new life in and through Him, His spirit and
ours become one. This happens as we allow the Holy Spirit to weave His spirit in and out of our souls and eat away all the
misunderstandings and anything operating in our lives contrary to the faith of Jesus.
I have said this before; this is a supernatural work in us having an intense and focused commitment with the Holy Spirit in
the spiritual world.
It has to be personally experienced in our thought
life and relayed to our spirit man. When something is consumed it is destroyed. The Apostle Paul in 1Cor. 10-16 states, “Because
of the grace of God operating in my life, and by using it, I have become an architect and a master builder. The foundation
that I have laid in people’s life has been Jesus Christ crucified and no other foundation of importants can be laid.
Now since this is the main foundation, you can build it up with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or straw. However,
the way and the material how the structure is built will be tested in the storms of life by the fire or the purifying of the
Holy Spirit’s shaking the building and appraising the work that has been done.
If the work that any person has built on this foundation in product or effort survives
the test, he will get a reward. However, if any persons work is burned up under the test, he will suffer the loss of it all,
losing his reward or allotment of his inheritance, although he himself will be saved. All of us must and will go through
the fire. You must come to understand that, the whole church or the Body of Christ is
the temple or sanctuary of God. His Spirit lives in you corporately and individually.” It
is as we learn to acknowledge, respect and sense the living presence of God through His grace operating in us that, causes
our reverence and awe of Him to take a stronger hold of our lives and it secures and anchors our souls.
Before we go on to defining obedience, we need to explore this idea of the blood of sprinkling; that
this verse also mentions. This is where we define this idea that our baptism in Christ is us being stained with a dye. In
Rev. 1:5 the Apostle John tells us that, “Jesus Christ will be able to give us a personal witness of Him being the first
person to be raised from the dead because, He is alive today and we can talk to Him through the Holy Spirit. He is the Prince
of the Kings of the earth and has washed us from our sinned cursed nature that we were born with, with His own blood and we
have become priests and kings under His ruler ship”
1Peter
1:2 tells us that, “God’s plan from the beginning of all time was to make us holy and sanctified by His Spirit
living in us, which will cause us to be obedient because of us allowing Jesus Christ to sprinkle us with His own blood. It
is through this process that, we receive and walk with a great peace as we realize that, Jesus did this for us and we can
now know how to live free from fear, agitating passions and moral conflicts.”
These three things can control our lives
when we live under the curse rather then the Faith of Jesus. Too many in the body
of Christ are slaves to these three entities. Yes, I said entities because they are demonic in nature and the devil is alive
and extremely active in trying to destroy the body of Christ. Fear can only be driven out by us operating in a loving relationship
with God.
It was God’s plan by us allowing Him to sanctify
us that, would insulate us so that, our will could not be any more violated and deceived and we would know where our
strength to walk the Christian life was to come from.
The
word sprinkled in the Greek or New Testament reference is rhantismos: meaning, be-sprinkled, covered or permanently stained
with Jesus blood. In reference to the Old Testament it is proschusis: meaning to pour or a shedding forth. In Hebrews 11:28
it says “so the people to keep their faith, they would celebrate the feast of Passover and do their sprinkling of blood
because they were afraid that they would encounter any consequences of experiencing the angel of death in their lives in any
form.”
This Passover ritual was
how God had them reverence Him in those days. These were all ritualistic observances that had to be done by the people and
there constant awareness of doing these things made them have a sin conscience mentality and them focusing on their faults.
If you have read the Old Testament you know that one of the plagues that God put on the Egyptians
because they would not let God’s people go free, was, He allowed the angel of death to pass over the city and it killed
the firstborn of all the people who did not have the blood of a sacrificed animal to God over the door entrances to their
homes. After they left Egypt the people created this feast day of Passover as a remembrance of how God delivered them from
Egypt.
To this day many still celebrate this feast and this causes them to feel
secure that in this way, the angel of death or the ills we encounter today will protect and pass them by. Because the born
again believer has been washed once and for all and has been stained with Jesus blood, there is no need to have any ritualistic
concept being done today in any form. When the born again believer lives under these concepts of Old Testament thinking, the
curse in their lives flourishes as I have stated and it brings death. This takes place because; they fall back from receiving
and participate in God grace and favor.
Ephesians 2:15 says, “Jesus destroyed and put an end to this hostile
relationship between mankind and himself. He declared invalid these ritualistic endeavors with its laws and decrees and took
these observances upon Himself and created in Himself one new man and a new quality of humanity out of the two covenants and
now we can live in peace.”
The Apostle Paul tells
us in 1Cor. chapter 15 that, “ We must be changed and be delivered from our physical and carnal thinking of right and
wrong and put on a life that will never die and gives us a quality life of hope and confidence in our relationship with God.
If we learn to live with this new nature and operate with the mind of Christ which we received when we became born again,
it will free us from this sin conscious mentality and we will be set free to explore our relationship with God with out us
trying to clean up our act and all that goes along with that.”
It is us concentrating on our faults and failures that exercises power to control our will and emotions
and as I have said, the shame based nature and the curse flourishes. We no longer are to live our lives in ritualistic observances
but by a new covenant or set of rules that should bring with it an awareness of a friendship and total acceptance by God and
a freedom to approach Him and interact with our thoughts and emotions with Him. Having a relationship of worship and reverence
with our new covenant gets us in touch with the new man that we are in Christ. It is practicing the presence of God constantly
that gives us affirmation of how highly God regards us as His children and how this new covenant works.
When we being people who have been permanently stained and covered in Jesus
blood don’t fully understand this type of baptism in Christ, we live in a double minded standard and our souls are never
anchored. This empowers the angel of death to invade our lives and rob us of experiencing God’s peace and friendship
the way he intended. This is where we do not receive our allotment of God’s inheritance as He ordained.
7. Obedience: = (To do the bidding of, execute commands
and be guided by certain laws.) We now come to putting the Faith of Jesus into works of righteousness. You can see if you
have read so far with intense discernment that unless these other six characteristics are in operation there is no obedience
to walking in God’s statutes. I have said this before and it bears being said again.
In
John 14:23, Jesus says, “If a person really loves me, he will keep my commandments.”
Blind
obedience without love will maintain order, but does nothing to enhance a loving relationship. Blind obedience without
recognizing its value is destined for failure. Love
gives the reason to obey and gives us value and worth. The hungering heart will seek with Passion the kingdom of God.
The complacent heart or the self absorbed person will grow restless in his walk with God.
A
prolonged mind set of trying live by “do’s and don’ts” distract us from God’s intended goals.
When we are receiving God’s love, we can truly love one another. I have learned that without the sensitivity of the
Holy Spirit, my mind drifts into a thinking mentality of faultfinding about others and myself.
Jesus
did not come to earth to impose the law or to rule over us with a dictating and dominating attitude. He came to empower us
to be able to keep the law by His love and the Spirit of grace working on the inside of us. He came to bridge the gap
between,
His creative order by giving us an awareness of His devoted love.
God’s love can only be described as His “forgiving grace.” God knew that
while we are learning, maturing and growing spiritually, we would stumble and fall short and violate His perfect will for
our lives. However, like the loving Father that He is, His grace intercedes and covers our faults. This in turn gives us the
power to maintain and continue our loving relationship with Him. Only by learning to receive and live in God’s power
of forgiveness will man find and feel true peace. The key to obedience is in this word forgiveness. Let’s define and
meditate on this word before we go on.
The word forgives in the Greek is aphiemi: meaning,
to lay aside, a separation or departure from, or free from blame or obligation. In Matthew 26:28 Jesus celebrated the last
supper with His disciples.
He
refers to His blood as, “The blood of the New Testament (or the new covenant) which He would shed for the remission
of our sins.” The word remission means, a release from the penalty and consequence caused by a crime. When we respond
and walk in the Spirit of forgiveness it is only then that, we can walk in obedience to God’s statutes. God’s
nature is the Spirit of forgiveness.
Our
first encounter of tasting forgiveness was at the cross when we had a born again experience and received our new nature in
Christ. 1Peter 1:19-23 he tells us that. “We were bought with the blood of Christ because He offered himself up as a
sacrificial lamb, who was faultless and not guilty of ever doing anything wrong. It was God’s plan from the beginning
for Him to offer Himself up in this way. It is in us believing that He was raised from the dead and our faith should be focused
on this one act. If you are going to walk in obedience, you must know and be participating
in the truth of this and it can only be reveled and lived through the workings of the Holy Spirit. This relationship with
the Holy Spirit will keep our motives and attitudes pure and unsoiled and in turn, we will be able to love ourselves and the
brethren.”
I believe that the body
of Christ has got caught up with going through the rote operations of the words of the bible and do not realize that the Spirit
of forgiveness is the personality of the Holy Spirit. We need to realize that, we need to continually be having saved experiences
with Holy Spirit.
I am convinced that the majority of the body of Christ are fighting
a battle with in themselves of self hate. We badly have to let the Holy Spirit
have access to out hearts and mind and set us free to rest in His arms. I have found in my own life a need in me to surrender
and allow the Holy Spirit to probe my inner being and erase and restore areas of my life that have been acquired through ignorance
of His ways over these many years which has crippled me certain areas. It is my inclination that there are weights that Christians
have carried for many years that has them demonically oppressed.
It is only as
we are experiencing the love of the Lord and His tender mercy and grace that will allow Him to operate in those areas of our
lives that are raw and sensitive. It is time if we really want to know the real love of the Lord to let Him invade those areas
and not cover them up with religious hype, emotional rhetoric which is nothing more then a camouflage and living in denial.
It is as we learn to love ourselves that we will be able to love one another.
When we live
in self hate in any form, we can not see value in ourselves and we give the quality of our own self worth in our own sight
to each other. When this happens we participate in prolonging the curse in ourselves and our relations with others. We have
ministries at work with in the body of Christ where people are having to be delivered from bondages that have controlled their
life for years.
After they get delivered
they have to go on and not live in error as to how they are to submit their lives to God. If we do not start teaching how
to stay free once delivered, we go back to our vomit and the condition worsens.
If
I haven’t made it clear to you yet, this is a disease of the curse and a sickness that can no longer be ignored
anywhere and especially in the body of Christ. It is time for us to take the medicine
of forgiveness from God and continue to take it as we mature in our adventures with Him. This is the key that will make us
healthy and we can walk with authority in our Godly pursuits in and to the world. We need to be aware of the fact that, we
need to allow God to continually save and deliver us from ourselves.
This
is a way of life not a set of rules.
The
Apostles Paul in 11Timothy 1:12 says, “I know in whom I have believed in and I have been persuaded that He is able to
keep that which I have committed unto to Him against that day.” Paul had been persuaded because He had learned how to
flow in the Spirit of God. The word persuaded in the Greek means, to make a friend and then walk in obedience. In Hebrews
10:22-23 he also states, “Let us draw near with a true heart in a full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled
from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to our profession of faith with out
wavering; for God is faithful for what He has promised. And let us focus on encouraging each other to love acts which are
the only way to walk in obedience in doing Godly endeavors.”
This process
of heart sprinkling and having our conscience and body washed with pure water is what fighting the good fight of faith is
all about. By our bodies being washed it means that, we will be in a state of constantly being conformed to God’s will
and becoming healthier every day.
It is absolutely ridiculous to think that religious observances in our fleshly endeavors can cause this to happen. It is the
Holy Spirits job and His commitment to us to let us know how sanctified we are as a born again believer. When we in any form
try to help Him out in allowing Him to give us our spiritual baths, the curse continues to survive.
The word conscience in the Greek is suneidesis: meaning, to become aware of, to be informed, or to
have your eyes opened to right and wrong concepts. In the Webster’s dictionary it means, a mental inbred or inherited
gift from our physical parents by which we distinguish between right and wrong concepts of life. You might say it’s
our moral barometer. It acts as a filter to screen out healthy or unhealthy thoughts and motives which then gives us the freedom
to make choices on which course to take. It acts like the liver we all possess in our physical body which purifies our blood.
With a healthy liver, we have uncontaminated blood to nourish our body. The bible tells us that, the life is in the blood.
Our conscience works the same way. It was contaminated
when we inherited our broken relationship with God because of Adam eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
When we in our attempts to measure up or in our own efforts try to please God and get acceptance, we function with our sick
consciences. This is Old Testament thinking. Remember we stated earlier that every year the High Priests had to offer unblemished
animals as a sin offering to the Lord for the People. By them doing this they were constantly being brought back into a sin
conscience mentality and focusing in right and wrong concepts based on them breaking one of the Ten Commandments. This is
that stigmatism or a mark of dis-grace that we inherited from Adam our ancestor. Adam had fallen back from receiving God’s
grace.
Since we are now born again people, we now have the mind of Christ in us
and this is the new covenant consciousness we need to be functioning in. As we are learning and allowing the Holy Spirit to
persuade us to do it His way, our awareness of a new set of laws begins to take shape in our minds as we reason with Him.
It is us living by these laws that not only justifies us, but it also, empowers us to know how to be obedient. These
are the new laws of the new covenant that we signed up for when we became born again. It is as we function in these seven
characteristics of the Holy Spirit that we have defined from scripture that causes us to walk in obedience.
To the born again believers in Galatians 5:14-18 the Apostle Paul states, “The law is fulfilled
when, “We love our neighbor as we love our self.” However, when we live in strife the relationships that
we have with others has contentions and an anger, that causes us to live under all kinds of stress and we are consumed with
fear because, we can not obtain the peace of God. As born again believers we need to learn how to continually live and walk
by being controlled by the Holy Spirit. It is only in this way that the curse in our lives can be broken and we will have
the power to overcome our inclination to do evil. For we are in a warfare that the curse or our own human will is opposed
to God’s leadings. When we allow ourselves to operate in God’s seven characteristics we will no longer be controlled
by the curse and focusing on our behavior for acceptance and approval.” Scripture tells us, “Where there is strife
there is a loathing attitude at work.” Let me make my self clear here.
A person that
lives in shame and self hate in different areas of their lives has a loathing for themselves and it is impossible for
them to love themselves let alone others.
This battle that we are in must be defined and the
body of Christ must be once and for all enlightened to an awareness that stops them from being alarmed that God went on vacation
and left us behind. We know that the spirit of anti- Christ has been at work since Jesus left the planet. We must once and
for all become enlightened as born again believers and begin to understand kingdom principles of living a Jesus centered life.
Any doctrine or human endeavor to heal the sickness
of sin in human beings is an anti-Christ spirit at work and idolatry or the worship of self, which ends up being the one being
worshiped. Let me make my self clear again on this one point. There is nothing being said here that should give you the excuse
to not take responsibility for your own actions. This is a very serious crippling decease when we find ourselves in this intense
struggle going on in our lives and the hopelessness and despair that accompanies this curse. If you are like Paul at times
feeling insignificant and pathetic, despicable and ashamed of yourself and have become imprisoned with in yourself you are
in good company. Paul was an over comer in spite of his afflictions.
True healing
only comes in putting away your denial and coming out of the darkness by acknowledging to God how miserable you are and us
allowing the Holy Spirit to poultice with his anointing and heal your broken heart. David the King states in Psalms 23:6 “Surly
goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall live in the house of the Lord for ever.” When
you participate in living in the house of the Lord it literally means to live in the presence and conscientiousness of God
during the day. It is us carry an attitude of worship with a thankful heart that ushers in the presence of God into our being
that heals our souls. You can know the scriptures backward or forwards but it is God presence that delivers and secures our
souls. Remember Jesus said “He would never leave us or forsake us” Lets take Him at His word.
