WHAT IS THE SIN THAT CAUSES DEATH TO THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER
PART ONE
1John 5:16-17 says, “If
any man sees his brother believer committing a sin that does not lead to death (the extinguishing of life), he will
pray and God will surely give him life. He will grant life to those whose sin is not unto death. There is There
is a sin, which leads to death. I do not say that one should pray for that. All unrighteousness
is sin and there is a sin that does not lead to death. This sin may be repented of and forgiven.”
Ephesians 4:30 tells
us, “grieve not the Holy Spirit of God where you are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
When one grieves, they experience intense sorrow and great
sadness; an example would be at a death. This is how much God cares about us when we grieve Him. When we became born again,
we were sealed = (Stamped with a private mark and fenced into God’s protection) until the day of redemption. Redemption meaning, we were delivered from the sins of humanity by the death of Jesus
Christ on the cross. This is a permanent condition that cannot be reversed by
Devil or man. Unless the born again believer gets this deep seated into their heart where the issues of life are made, there
cannot be any true healthy growth to maturity and a believer cannot have a true idea of God’s love and His holding power
in their lives.
When the true interpretation of God’s word is not being taught under the anointing of the Holy Spirit,
it creates in the believer an attitude of being double minded and gives them a thought pattern of “He loves
me and He loves me not.” This whole idea of committing
a sin that leads to some kind of death has been a very controversial subject with in the Christian community for decades.
If you meditate to any extent on this verse, it could became very scary to believe that, a person can commit a sin that God
will not forgive and therefore, it causes a person to spend eternity in hell. Not only that, it also creates a scenario of
serving the Lord because of the consequence of the severe penalty we can incur if we do not. This represents a controlled
manipulation of our freedom of choices.
11Thes.5:19 states, “Quench not the Holy Spirit” When one quenches, they subdue feelings of enthusiasm
or desire. In turn, it causes us to (lose our
illumination of revelation knowledge from God and it extinguishes our thirsting after God.) This takes place
because of our lack of understanding of how the rules of the of kingdom work. Anything that stops the Holy Spirit from having
His perfect way in our heart and mind causes us to become immobilized and we cannot walk in the power of His Spirit.
Let’s
discuss some of the false interpretations that are being taught in many different denominations today. We will then discuss
from scripture the real meaning of what a sin unto death means. All religion in its many forms is far different compared to
the (true interpretation from scripture.) Religion and Christianity tells us, sin is thoughts becoming actions that are wrong and contrary to God’s way of life.
That is true however, religion goes on to say, these actions need to stop, so we can stay in right
standing with God and not suffer hell pains here on earth and not go to hell permanently after our soul leaves our physical
bodies. This is where the fallacies come in.
The word sin in the Greek is harmatano: meaning, erring, missing
the mark, losing our allotment and not sharing in
a prize. When we were born into the world, we were not born again and a slave to sin. This gave us a ticket to hell.
However, to the born again believer, this concept of sin is a death sentence of the life of Christ having His full
presence from operating in our daily walk while now in our human body.
Before we became
saved, we were enslaved with a sinful attitude and behavior that showed up in our lives. We will refer to what Paul the Apostle
says sinful behavior represents in Eph. 5:19-21. Paul states, “Now the sins or the fruits of the
flesh that become obvious are, immorality, impurity, indecency, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger
ill temper, selfishness, divisions, party spirits, sects with peculiar opinions, (meaning heresies) envy, drunkenness,
carousing and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit
the kingdom of God.”
The definitions that Paul talked about
here can be defined much further because; this enslaving attitude constantly wants to rear its ugly head in all circumstances
in our thought life and actions and we have to be weaned off this addiction by the Holy Spirit to rid our self of this bondage.
I believe we all are participating in some form of this in some manner. Some of us are consciously aware of doing some of
this, but many of us are participating in this life style unawares.
Sin in its many forms is a stronghold that the Devil has woven into
our lives.
The Catholic faith teaches that man must stay in a constant state of God’s grace and he does this by
confessing his sins in the confessional box every week or every time he believes, he breaks one of God’s commandments.
If he is not living in a pure state of grace when he dies, he goes to hell. However, if he is only guilty of committing small
sins operating in his life called venial sins, he has to spend time in purgatory, which is a place of small fires to make
amends for their sins before they can go to heaven. Furthermore, they are taught that, when they receive communion, this is
the actual body and blood of Christ. However, scripture tells us that; communion is to be taken because it puts us into remembrance
of what Jesus did for us at the cross. Scripture also tells us that, the born again Christian needs to have fellowship with
their Christian brothers and sisters in their homes, study the scripture and have communion whenever they want
to. Catholics are further taught that, if they go to communion and
receive Christ with out confessing their sins to a priest, they commit a sacrilege and this sin can never be forgiven.
In turn, they go to hell when they die. I cannot understand how a born
again Catholic can believe that the wafer they take into themselves at communion is really the body and blood of Christ. It
is obvious that they do not understand that, they have the living entity of a risen Christ, who is represented by the Holy
Spirit in their hearts and once they became born again, they can never lose the Holy Spirit with God’s characteristics.
This is the greatest blasphemy ever perpetrated by man. It compares a living Christ
to a man made wafer. How much more sacrileges can you be. In spite of this God does not get insulted although he grieves over
their childish endeavor to grow close to him. The Dua Remes is the bible the Catholic Church allows their parishioners to
read and it reads the same way as the King James. However, the way they teach the word is unscriptural. This type of teachings
is the most controlling mentality ever perpetrated by man to keep people as slaves to a religious sect. It really portrays
God as a conditional lover of our souls.
With in the Protestant faith we also have doctrines of fear and control
going on. Their interpretation of blaspheme is when a born again believer commits a sin against the Holy Spirit and this person
is told they also cannot be forgiven. Webster’s dictionary describes blasphemy
as, swearing impiously in a way that insults religion by a person treating God or sacred things disrespectfully through words
or action. However, in the Greek the word blasphemed is blasphemeo: meaning,
to hurt or destroy, to speak falsehoods and pass ugly rumors about our understanding of God’s plan of what our covenant
relationship with Him represents. When we act upon beliefs that are not in line with God’s intentions, scripture says,
“The word of God will be blasphemed.” This
interpretation is very different from an eternal damnation in hell.
If people who
blaspheme are all going to hell than Christ died for nothing and everyone is going to hell. Anytime the word of God is falsely
interpreted and acted on, blaspheming is taking place. Scripture tells us that we all understand in part God’s plans.
If we really know this, the revelation of God Himself never ends and we should seek after Him with passion. This tells us
that, we need to stay committed and be dependent on the Holy Spirit at all times, so we can learn God’s ways and not
blaspheme. So it is obvious that this idea of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is not being taught with clarity because, I don’t
know of any one in my life that hasn’t interpreted the scriptures a time or two wrong and had to repent.
Now all
the sins that Paul stated in Ephesians that I have stated can be forgiven and we need to do what scripture tells us to do.
“We need to watch out for each other and make sure that none of us fall back from receiving the grace of
God.” His grace is the only thing that can deliver
us from the bondages of sin. Paul also says that, “those who commit these sins can not inherit the
kingdom of God.” When a person functions in his inheritance,
he operates in the family business the same as his father.
The
born again believer must have his roots very deep in God and know with out a shadow of a doubt that,
When they became born again,
they received all of God the Father’s characteristics and must now grow up to learn how to use them. These characteristics
can never be taken back.
It is interpreted in to many protestant born again assemblies that, when
one commits these sins, he does not inherit God’s kingdom meaning, he goes to hell and losses his salvation. This again
is the biggest blaspheming that has ever been perpetrated on the born again believer.
This is the lie that causes death to the believer and portrays God as having conditional love themes and preferences. It is
the same lie that the born again church whether Protestant or Catholic has swallowed from the beginning. We have our inheritance
given to us already at salvation and now we must grow up to be about our fathers business, be discipled and learn how to be
equipped to function in our inheritance while we are here on the earth.
We need to open our self up to the Holy Spirit
and allow Him to constantly remind us of how totally secure we are in Christ. This reminder keeps us focused on the hope that
no matter where ever we wander nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.
Scripture tells us that, God Himself is
love. However, it is only us experiencing His love in mind, soul and body that keeps us free from fear, agitating passions and
moral conflicts. Sin in its many forms operates
through the entity of fear. Any time God is portrayed
as a vengeful authoritative taskmaster of any kind and the people who hear it allow this concept to become a part of their
soul make up, the people perish.
In the New Testament, Jesus was
constantly chastising the Apostles and telling them that, their attitudes about God was distorted. They wanted to bring judgment
on people and Jesus said, “I didn’t come to judge or condemn the world but to bring new life and peace
to the people.”
In Mark chapter three Jesus was having a dialogue with the scribes (who were the religious
folks of His day.) They were saying that Jesus works were being motivated by Beelzebub. In
the Greek and Hebrew, the definition of Beelzebub, not only represents another name
for Satan but it is also defined as him being a master spirit of imitation and deception to fool the people into believing
that it is God at work at times in different areas of their lives when in reality it is him. Jesus says this in verses 24-29,
“A kingdom divided against it self can not stand. If a house is divided and split into factions (conflict
or contention with in a group) it cannot continue to flourish.
No one can go
into a strong mans house and ransack his household goods right and left and seize them as plunder, unless he first binds the
strong man; then indeed he may plunder his house. Truly and most solemnly
I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men and whatever abusive and blasphemous things they utter; however whosoever
speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness, but is guilty of
and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass.”
Truly and most solemnly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men and whatever abusive and
blasphemous things they utter; however whosoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can
never get forgiveness, but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass.” Scripture
tells us that, Christianity is made up of people
who have become born again, period! People who are not born again are not Christians and followers of Christ.
This happens because; they do not have the Holy Spirit living with in them. Therefore, no matter what church or denomination
they belong to and how many good works they do or don’t do has no bearing on them spending eternity in heaven or hell.
A man does not go to heaven for his good works nor does not go to hell for his bad works. Only a person accepting Jesus into
his life is what counts. We need to get this as a sure foundation in our heart and mind if, we are to build strong love relationships
in God’s family. It is now time to go on and rightly interpret the word of God to become mature, sound-minded people
and become discipled by the Holy Spirit.
Truly becoming independent only comes by us being totally dependent by the leaning
of our whole personality on ever word that comes out of the Holy Spirits mouth.
The reason a person cannot experience
forgiveness in his life and why he lives in a sin consciousness, is because, our understanding of scripture is being taught
through a legalistic indoctrination of scripture. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Teacher of God’s word. When we
do not follow His leadings, we live in a state of bondage to shame. This happens because; the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit
of Forgiveness cannot have His full play in our lives.
When a person lives in guilt and in the grasp of an everlasting
trespass, they are going on for too long a time
in their Christian walk becoming tired of repetition, annoyed and forever grumbling. When we miss interpret the Holy Spirits
leading and cannot identify with His voice, our spiritual connection to God becomes unplugged and the radio signals die. Therefore,
our true position as God’s child is lowered and religious hype and emotion is substituted for the anointing of God.
God’s anointing is what breaks the yoke of bondages in one’s life. Jesus was rebuked by the scribes when they
told Him that the miracles He was doing were being empowered by Satan himself. They were un-saved because; they had no belief
that He was the Son of God. Their death was an eternity in hell if, they never accepted Jesus eventual death on the cross.
To the un-saved hell is a death sentence for eternity. Death to the born again believer represents the absence of
a passionate life in the Spirit world of God’s kingdom while here now on the earth.
Although they
have all of God’s characteristics alive in them, they are not being fed by the Holy Spirit and are feeble, weak and
palsied people. Jesus in Matthew 6:33, tells us how the full impact of His love is to operate in our lives. He says, “We
are to seek first His kingdom by living in His righteousness and when we do this we shall receive
all the other things that leads to joy and a meaningful life. “
When
I read that many years ago I said to my self, “It has to be my main goal to understand this concept of righteousness
and how I can allow it to work to perfection in my life” concept of righteousness and how
I can allow it to work to perfection in my life” Religion in any form has nothing to do with being righteous. Righteousness
is not acts of human endeavors of benevolence in any form.
True Righteousness is the living entity of God and a condition that changed us into becoming a new creature in Jesus Christ
the day we became born again. When we operate in God’s Spirit of Righteousness, we are empowered to do creative benevolent
acts but only God’s way. Only born again believers can operate in God’s Righteous Spirit because, His
Spirit is alive and lives in us always. Therefore, if we want
to follow scripture, rather then putting wrong acts in the category of sinful acts, let’s say that they are unrighteous
acts meaning thoughts and actions contrary to the Spirits leadings. The opposite of that is
doing righteous acts meaning, being lead by the Holy Spirit. Let’s define these
two in more depth.
Living Righteous vs. Unrighteous
We need to realize that, there is pleasure in sin for a short season. All peoples
were made by God to be edified and satisfied in their lives. Because of this fact, unsaved people are looking for love in
all the wrong places. Sin lasts for only a short season because; it is never totally fulfilling and needs to be experimented
and experimented with greater high for fulfillment. This becomes bondage in ones life and can only be broken by the Righteous
Spirit of God through the Holy Spirit working in our life.
In Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 Solomon the King tells us, “To every
thing there is a season and a purpose that must be submitted to heavens control and final authority. A time
to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pick what was planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time
to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to
throw stones and a time to gather them; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to keep and a time
to throw away; a time for tearing and a time for sewing; a time to speak and a time to be silent; a time to love and a time
to hate; a time of war and a time of peace; What rewardeward is there for the person that is doing all this
fatiguing work or going constantly through these seasons. I have seen the painful labor, concern and effort,
which God has given to, the (sons of men) keeping him busy with all his duties or earthy chores. .
God has made everything
beautiful in its time; He also has planted eternity in men’s heart and mind. God has planted a divinely sense of purpose working through the ages which nothing
under the sun, but only God can satisfy, yet no man in his
own understanding will be able to figure out what God had in mind from His first thought until His plans will be completed.”
Solomon
is trying to relate that a man has a seed in him that has to be nourished to live with his creator and become like him. It
is our relationship with the Holy Spirit that causes this to happen. Whether a person is born again or not, he will experience
all these growing seasons and emotions stated in these eleven verses. These seasons are not too be judged by us as wrong or
are we to think that we are peculiar or different from others and God causes these seasons to discipline us to conform to
His ways by fear or force. These seasons are the
normal development of humanity. These seasons become fatiguing in our lives when we try to cope with them with an unrighteous
spirit in our own strength.
In a big majority of the preaching
that I have heard over the years, the connotation of these seasons in our lives has been judged as being wrong. Sin as we
have defined it from the scripture was a factor planned for by God to lead people to Himself. The majority of born again believers
who have been taught the horrors of sin and the judgment of it by God, will have a hard time realizing what Paul the Apostle
meant when he stated in Romans 5:19 “ By one man (Adam ) and
his disobedient act many were made sinners or became un-righteous. However, Jesus one act of obedience of dying on
a cross made many become righteous. God gave the Ten Commandments to (Moses) so that man could have a greater understanding
and have no doubt of their disobedience by knowing that they were breaking His commandments. Therefore, sin brings death (an
eternity in hell to the unsaved. However, the saved
living by the grace of God brings eternal life through the righteousness
of Jesus Christ that lives with in them.”
We are to lift up the Lord in all Christian settings or daily in our conversations
with the saved and un-saved. Unless we as born again believers know what being righteous in Christ represents and how to live
in it, we portray death to the un-saved and saved alike. As I have said, to the unsaved a death of eternal life in hell and
to the believer a disconnect to a vital empowered life in the Spirit World of God’s kingdom. This kingdom was born in
us the day we accepted Christ in our lives.
Righteousness in the Greek means, Justification = (blameless, absolved from all
sin past present and future). Innocent = (free from evil by being naive as a trusting child and having
the capability to no longer have a condescending attitude of judging ourselves and others.) Holy = (set apart from the world and able to walk in God’s presence.)
in the Greek means, Justification = (blameless, absolved from all sin
past present and future). Innocent = (free from evil by being naive as a trusting child and having
the capability to no longer have a condescending attitude of judging ourselves and others.) Holy = (set apart from the world and able to walk in God’s presence.) It’s very difficult at times to realize that God looks at us as blameless, innocent
and holy in His sight every day, because we have to deal with being tempted
to look at our faults and failures as we walk with the Lord. As we hunger and thirst after Him, the Holy Spirit reinforces
our permanent connection and favor, that God wants to lavish on us because we are His children and because we are totally
accepted by him. God wants his children to understand that He gave us life and put His Spirit in us so that we could rule
and reign with Him now and for eternity.
Now when God’s Righteous Spirit is not in operation the only alternative
is a un- righteous spirit at work. There is no middle ground. The word unrighteousness in the Hebrew is aven:
meaning, to exert oneself in vain, wickedness,
idol worship, being incurable, fatherless and things brought to nothing. In the Greek,
it is adikos: meaning, unjust, heathen,
judgment or punish. A person does not have to plan to do evil and be breaking the laws of God and man to be in this condition
of un-righteousness. A heathen is one who sticks to or remains firm in his opinion of a lower form of religion. In addition, he thinks in terms of judging, inflicting punishment, and getting even. In Isaiah
55:7 it says, “Let the unrighteous forsake his thoughts.” When one operates in un-righteousness, they cause a disturbance in the Spiritual World, are violent and
actively going around causing trouble and the peace of God can not rule and reign in one’s life.
In Romans
1:18 Paul tells us, “God’s anger and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness (repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.”
Wickedness in one’s life represents an impassive attitude toward Godly ways. The scripture defines a person who is impassive as being one who is nether hot or cold in their
Christian walk but lukewarm. People who live like this have no passion because,
They have not been taught
how to seek first the kingdom of God and operate with His righteousness.
The key here is to seek first God’s righteousness and know how to operate in his Spirit. God calls us to run to Him and let the Holy Spirit give us a word of wisdom
to deliver us from this condition. A perfect example of false interpretations of scripture that keeps people from understanding
God’s perfect love for them and God’s unending relentless pursuit and patience in maturing us as his children,
is found in Revelations 3:15-20. John the Apostle wrote a letter and gave a word from the Lord to the church at Laodicia.
He writes, “I know your record of works and know what you are doing; you are neither hot nor cold, it’s
my desire that you be either hot or cold!
So because you are lukewarm
and neither hot nor cold, I will spew you out of My mouth!
For you say, I am rich and have prospered and grown wealthy and I am in need of nothing. With this
attitude, don’t you realize that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked? Therefore I counsel you to buy
from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be truly wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame
of your nudity from being seen and eye salve to put on your eyes that you may see. Those who I love, I tell their faults
to and convince and reprove and instruct them. So be enthusiastic and have a passion to talk to Me and follow My advice at
all times. Allow Me to change your mind and attitude. I stand at your hearts door and knock asking permission to come in and
have a very real relationship with you.”
One of
the most devastating and false interpretations of scripture that I have ever heard is this interpretation that says, because
these people had this condition of being lukewarm, they made God sick to His stomach and He was going to vomit them out of
His mouth. It’s these kinds of false conditional love themes themes being preached that keep Christians in this mentality that makes them not sure of how much
forgiveness they can receive from the Lord and brings death in their connection to the love of God. It is only
God’s patience and love for the people teaching this stuff that will stop them from
preaching and teaching these false doctrines.
I have heard this false interpretation from leaders who have large ministries
on Christian television and churches you will find in our everyday travels that have large congregations. There is a terrible
need in the body of Christ to unlearn
some of these false teachings and learn the truth, so people can be set free to explore a real relationship with God.
Let’s
now rightly interpret what God meant, by vomiting us out of His mouth. The word of God has to be interpreted through an understanding
of God’s great desire to continually restore us to a place of
wholeness with Him. This battle of wholeness cannot be communicated through themes that teach that, God is losing His patience
or becoming fed up with His children. When we do this, we stop receiving God’s mercy because there are conditions being
attached to it. This mind set prevents us from having a passion to love God and in turn love others as ourselves.
People who
are their own worst enemy are the ones who cannot love themselves.
Hebrews 1:3 tells us. “Jesus is the sole expression of the
glory of God, light being and the out raying of the Divine. The perfect imprint and the image of God’s nature
upholding, maintaining and propelling the universe by His mighty “WORDS” which is His power.
When God speaks, things happen.
Let us go back and
see when God first spoke. In Genesis it says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and
the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The Spirit of God moved
upon the face of the water and God said, “Let there be light and God saw that the light was
good and God divided the light from the darkness.” God spoke eight more times, and every time that He
spoke, there was a created miracle that took place.
We must begin to realize that out of God’s spirit, out from His inner
most being He spewed forth an extension of Himself and
created life on the planet. Everywhere God speaks forth and it is received, it brings life. He is the life giver.
God doesn’t love us when He has a good day and not love us when He has a bad day. His
whole nature and force of life as He exists is His love, patience and grace. God wants to spew His wisdom into our thought life. He doesn‘t want to throw us away but, plant His being deeply with in us.
When we interpret God’s word and believe that, He is fed up with us, it puts a wall up that stops God from spewing
or speaking His life force, which is His words of wisdom into our spirit and changing us to
His way of thinking.
The simplest example I can give
on why God wanted them to be hot or cold is this. In the physical on a cold day, there is nothing like a nice hot drink to
warm you up and on a hot day, there is nothing like a nice ice cold drink to cool you off. We can not grow up spiritually if we are not becoming sensitive in our sensibilities with God’s fellow
feelings, so we can give to ourselves and others a hot or cold drink in the spiritual realm as the need prescribes.
It is only
us knowing God’s vision and purpose for our lives and us cultivating His intensions by our spoken words, which
brings His call on our lives to maturity.
As we experience this relationship, we become more secure in trusting His inner
voice. In turn, we hunger to hear His voice because it anchors our soul and drives out the fears we have of loss in all areas.
We become our own worst enemy, take offense, and get angry because, we have not matured through living experiences of the
love of God. It makes no difference whether you are in a church setting or going through your daily walk in the world. This
judgment spirit is at work influencing us in our mind and emotions everywhere we go. It’s not only sad but also dangerous
that, we have so much of it going on in the born again churches of today. Fruit inspectors are everywhere especially in the
church.
The
problem that arises in a Christian congregation is that, outward behavior, whether a person expresses passive or exhilarating
emotion is what is looked at to judge whether a person’s love and relationship with the Lord is on track. Being emotional
or emotionless has nothing to do with our right standing in our relationship with the Lord.
We are not to use this as a standard for our righteousness or growth. Human emotion is not
the anointing of God. How can a person express true accelerations and joy in their
relationship with the Lord, if they are internally confused and afraid of a God they have been taught is moody and changes
his mind on his blessings. Should the show just go on as usual and should we just be all smiles while we are really dying
inside. David danced before the Lord with all his might and took no thought to look like a fool even when he was despised.
WHY? Because, he knew with out a doubt of God’s kindness, patience and goodness. We don’t have to get people into
a wild frenzy for God to show up. There are places that I have personally witnessed
where; people get a better work out at church, then at the gym training to stay in shape. This walk with the Lord is not a
flesh hype experience in our own emotional excitement, but by His Spirit of
Righteousness operating in our lives.
11Cor.3:6 tells us, “
God has qualified us, by making us fit and sufficient as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant not a minister
of legal codes, but of the Spirit. We as ministers are not to have an attitude of insisting
on our own ideas of leaning towards our own understanding of scripture. Therefore, we are to teach how salvation is accomplished
which is only through Jesus Christ. For when we live by the code of the law, we depart
from the relationship that makes us alive through the Holy Spirit.”
In Romans
7:4-6, Paul tells us, “My brothers you have undergone death as far as having to obey the CODE OF THE LAW
because; of Christ dying on the cross. In turn, we now belong to Him because He was raised from the dead and now we can bear
much fruit for God. Before we became born again, we were living in the flesh (mere physical lives) and our sinful passions
were aroused and awakened, because of us knowing God’s Laws. This is what causes sin to operate in our natural powers,
in the sensitive appetites and the will of the flesh and therefore sin showed up in our behavior. However, now we are released
from this type of mentality of trying in our own strength to obey God’s Law and we are to not have
any intercourse with it because, we have died with Christ at the cross where before this took place, we were held
a captive to this type of mentality. So now we serve not under (obedience to) the old code of written regulations, but (under
obedience to the promptings of the Spirit in a newness of life.
Scripture tells us that when the born again believer tries to go back
and live under regulated rules, we fall back from receiving God’s grace, which is the only thing that purifies our minds
of our guilt and shame and in turn, empowers us to live the Christian life. In Romans 6:13,16-18 Paul continues to say, “
Do you not know that if you continually surrender yourself to any one to do his will, you become a slave to obey
him, whether becoming a slave to sin which leads to death or becoming obedient to righteousness, which makes us
recognize the high esteem God’s has for us. , which makes us recognize the high esteem God’s has
for us.
Thank God, though once you were slaves of sin, you have now become obedient with all of your heart to the standard of teaching in which you were instructed and
to which you were committed. Therefore, since you have been set free from sin, you have
become the servant of righteousness (which is able to conform you to God’s divine will in thought, purpose and action.
Therefore, don’t let yourselves be used for any un-righteous purposes, but surrender yourselves to God, as those that have been raised from the dead with Christ and present yourself
to God by knowing your righteous position in him.”
When we operate in un-righteousness, it starts with a concept in our minds that is contrary
to God’s laws of the kingdom. The first law that God gave to man was in the Garden of Eden when He told Adam, “he
could eat from all of the trees in the garden except of the Tree of Good and Evil.”
When Adam and Eve ate they were contaminated with un-righteous thinking and for the first time they became
aware that they had broken a law of God. It never was God’s plan for mankind to live with guilt of breaking God’s
law and having their first priority of thoughts function in patterns of thinking about their shortcomings and faults, which
causes their shame nature, to dominate their lives.
